R I V E R
S stands
for Reaching every Individual, Valuing, Equipping and Releasing
them for Service in God's Kingdom for God's glory.
It's a church that is about family, friends, and fellowship. Our
motive is to create an atmosphere where everyone can feel at home
to worship the Lord Jesus Christ. We endeavor to accomplish this
by genuinely yielding our hearts to those around us.
We purposely exist to Exalt the Name of our Lord
Jesus Christ, to Edify each member of His Body, to Equip them for
service, and to mobilize them to Evangelize the world through the
Gospel and our living testimonies.
As the ROLIM song goes, "Come, join us in the Rivers of Life
Family... Where happy faces you can see... There is joy, peace and
happiness... Exalting... Edifying...
Equipping... Evangelizing... In the name of Jesus, the one and only King...",
we want to invite you to join us and be an instrument of God's salvation to all
mankind. It is our duty as part of God's family to share the good news to our
neighbors, friends and relatives. By fulfilling the Great Commission we are bringing
souls to God.
CHURCH HISTORY
God
indeed has a unique way of bringing something into being and making
things happen on behalf of His children.
It was in August 11, 2002 at 11:00 in the morning when the first
formal worship service commenced at the basement of the Schaper’s
family residence . This marked the beginning of Rivers of Life International,
a local family –oriented church that was built out of God's
perfect plan whose foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prior to this date, different groups of believers led by Pastor
Shane Torres were already meeting in camp sites, parks, halls and
backyards of generous families ( Francisco's, Villaraza's, and Quintos’).
This gathering of people which in essence is already a church -
the “called out ones” sought God in prayer.
Through the encouragement of Rev. John Lucas of FCA ( Fellowship
of Christian Assemblies) and other friends, the Lord spoke into
the heart of Pastor Shane and heeded God’s calling to serve
the Lord and continue the work that God has entrusted to him. More
worship services suc-ceeded and more significant events took place
. In just a few months, ROLIM grew from a small group of believers
to hundreds of gospel– motivated disciples of our Lord Je-sus
Christ.
From different venues, ROLIM moved to Jesus Glorious Church who
generously shared their building. In February 2003, with the assistance
of Pastor Ben Mapa of the FMF ( Filipino Ministerial Fellowship),
ROLIM became an authentic government-registered local church. Blessings
after blessings came, church workers rose up and the dif-ferent
ministries were established. God made everything possible on behalf
of His children. ROLIM then moved to unit # 8 then to unit 10 of
the same building.
From the material blessings to acquire the church fa-cilities and
equipments to the amazing things happen-ing on the individual lives
of each member, the Lord showed forth His provision, presence and
power.
Yes, at its birth, ROLIM continued to experience the awesome power
of the Almighty God: souls are being saved, lives are being changed,
marriages are being restored, broken hearts and the sick are being
healed, families reunite, wombs open, forgiveness flows, pros-perity
abounds, and visions and dreams come true. In-deed, the Word of
God becomes alive in the hearts and lives of the ROLIM members.
And with God’s sustain-ing grace and power, ROLIM continually
grows in all aspects and strives for excellence in every good work
for His glory.
Moreover, ROLIM believes that the river of God is a river of blessing
to every living thing that is touched by it. A life that is totally
immersed in the river of God brings forth fruitful results. Because
the river of God empowers , extends our scope, increases our ability
and skills, enables us to do significant and greater pursuits for
Him. Thus, the rivers will go further and beyond not only in Toronto
but to the ends of the earth.
Life is like a river ...a river flows into the sea and rain
comes to replenish the rivers. Ecclesiastes 1:7 The Good that
we do to others flows towards the Lord but He sends them back to
refill us so that more good will come . Indeed, a circle of good.
OUR VISION
Every ROLIM
member comes to growth and maturity and lives a productive and Spirit-filled
life that models Christ.
OUR MISSION
“Reaching
every Individual for Christ, Valuing, Equipping and Releasing them
for Service (RIVERS) for His Purposes and Glory”
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The entire Bible with the Old
and New Testaments is fully inspired by God and is the supreme
and final authority in all matters of beliefs, practices and priorities.
In one Triune God, eternally existing in Three Persons -- Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit .
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without
ceasing to be God having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and
born of the Virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and
redeem sinful men.
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, and that
He, as the indwelling One teaches, comforts, convicts and empowers
us -giving each person diverse gifts for serving the church and
serving others.
Man was created in the image God, but separated from God by
sin and need to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and
have a personal relationship with Him through His shed blood on
the cross.
Salvation is a gift, made available through the grace of God
and by repenting and confessing our sins to God, believing in
the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, and accepting Him
as Lord, we can spend eternity with God.
The Church is made up of all believers everywhere in the world
and the Lord Jesus Christ is its Head. Every member must belong
to a local church a group of believers who are organized to do
God's will and observe two ordinances in commemoration of His
person and work: water baptism and the partaking of the Lord's
Supper.
In the sure return of the Lord Jesus Christ to establish His
kingdom on earth, that this second coming will be a literal, bodily,
personal return; and that His coming for His bride, the Church,
constitutes the "blessed hope" set before us, for which
we should be constantly looking.
That every believer must be filled with Holy Spirit ; grow
and mature in the Lord through worship, fellowship, study of the
word, prayer and the renewing of the mind; and must dedicate himself/herself
to the service of our Lord and to His authority over our lives
